I had been working hard but in super duper spurts. I would work shifts that lasted up to 72 hours each, including calls that insist that I come out of that groggy state in the middle of the night to do something too urgent to wait till the next morning. I toyed with the idea of taking a couple months off to do things I had wanted to do for a long time. I voiced the idea to a friend who said, "If you are going to take time off, make it worth your while--why only 2 months?" So I thought of 6 months. Then someone told me they heard that I was going to take a year off. I figured if people are going to think that I would be taking a year off, I may as well take a year off.
So! The upshot is: I am going to take a year off...almost.
I know my tendencies--and I know I am more likely to schedule in work. So everytime I think of signing up for more work--I give myself a pep talk, "NO, Christine! You are going to guard that year off as if it is something sacred."
So a year off, with a maximum of 5 1/2 weeks of work (that's what is recommended to keep my work license).
The year starts SEPTEMBER 1.
Why the year of the right brain? I come from a very scientific background, studying math, chemistry, physics, and other sciences. I want to take the year to explore my ability to create: to write, to paint, to play music, to make beautiful things.
