Tonight is Nuit Blanche. ‘Sleepless night’ has taken on a new connotation in recent years as an all night art festival from dusk until dawn. I rested up as well as I could in the afternoon to participate in the events, as I am as far from a night owl as one can be. The original plan was to drive up to the Yonge & Bloor area but after a half hour of circuitous driving, I decided the best place for my car was at home and headed out on foot instead. As this event is quite ephemeral, the pieces tend to convey ideas rather than beauty. My favourite was the cozy bus shelter, complete with frilly cushions and lacy drapery.
A baker’s dozen installations later, I opted for a nuit noire instead.
