I awaken to some big news from Canada. The election results are in. The Liberals' dismal showing leave them with only 34 seats. The NDP becomes official opposition for the first time in history, convincingly so with 102 seats. The conservatives finally gets the majority government they have been seeking.
I drown my sorrows in a humongous kasha knish from Carnegie Deli. The New York style cheesecake is equally enormous.
A wind down my New York visit with a walk through Central Park, a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. Lots of dreams represented in these icons.
I discover, minutes from departure, that I am steps away from Hell’s Kitchen’s happening scene. I meet with Jean briefly before running off to Newark airport. My gate: B52. No--no bombers or drinks involved.
I return home to find my census form. How ironic! The day after Stephen Harper gets his majority in parliament. The short one, that is. He scrapped the long form without consulting Statistics Canada.
