May 5: Hakka is not really Hakka

I continue my left-braining at Primary Care Today. Luckily, Peter Lin is entertaining, even at 8:15 a.m.

My mouth waters as I make my yearly trek to Asian Wok ‘n Roll. This casual spot near the International Centre features Hakka cuisine, which in Toronto means Chinese inspired Indian cuisine. I may have Hakka ancestry but foods as such do not appear on my table. My tastebuds have been looking forward to the saucy Manchurian paneer.

A nice bonus to the conference are the free 5 minute massage sessions. I suspect that even as a doc on sabbatical, I have more knots than most of my colleagues.

The conference reunites me with old friends: Shawn and Alok, classmates from my McGill days, and Ryan from Red Lake.

This is my sabbatical, so I try to suppress the guilt leaving halfway through the day, then dining on Thai food and sitting by the lake.
