Today develops into one of those elusive sunny mild days. I take a long walk to Kensington Market. I stop by Agave & Aguacate, a hole in the wall eatery that has been getting lots of media attention lately. The chef stepped out for some aguacate (avocado). I returned twice in hope but no chef in sight. I give up and return to Mexican Salsas--not a bad consolation wolfing down Jesus’ taquitos. I run into one my classmates who invites me into his family's shop, Akram's. I taste the freshly made spinach and cheese phyllo wrap--spanakopita done Syrian style. I will have to return for their signature vegan falafels.
I hang out at Dark Horse to explore sketching. The fruits of my first pencil-to-paper session are far from gallery quality but I am happy with the results. Viewing art over the years does passively develop a sense of perspective.
