The Toronto Jazz Festival lineup is announced: Arethra Franklin is opening the festival with a free concert! I am so there. I have bought a ticket to one of her many previous cancelled Toronto engagements. Maybe finally I will be able to see Arethra in concert, that she will stay healthy enough to appear on June 24. Toronto Jazz Festival has been aging well these past few years. In the past, acts tended to be more experimental, more obscure. Of late, artists are performing more accessible jazz. I might even consider skipping the Montreal Jazz Festival this year.
I chat away at Babel: some Spanish, tons of French, a smattering of Russian and Cantonese. I am invited to join Florence and her weekly gatherings of French friends. Me, the francophile, will enjoy this opportunity to practice my conversational language skills.
