December 11: The upside to minus 20 Celsius

I see the glimpse of orange as a lone robin flits by. Brave bird, staying behind in the great white north to withstand the 20 below Celsius today. There will be colder days to come--it isn’t even winter officially. I head to work at the hospital. I am on call for the next 48 hours. So far, I am happy to be back at work. I chat with the nurses between patients and catch up on the town news. Lots have happened in the last 3 months, even in tiny Atikokan.

There is a pink in the sky that is unique to cold wintry skies--a blue-tinged pink. While a photo does capture a bit of this, I recommend braving the cold and experiencing this first hand.
