January 12: Remembering Haiti (I haven't forgotten yet)

Today marks the one year anniversary of the Haitian earthquake. With it comes more requests for help. I am torn. Am I being selfish, trying to protect my year off to enjoy art when I could be out there making an impact on people’s lives? I think I will have to put my year on hold once again and head back to Haiti if my help is needed--won’t be able to live with myself otherwise.

“Inside Disaster Haiti” premiered last night, showing the first of a three part series. I am moved to tears as I watch this documentary following some of my Red Cross friends and colleagues in the early response to the earthquake. Do watch this documentary if you can.

Roberto invites me to join his wife Elaine and his three daughters, Emma, Sara, and Isabel, for dinner. Once again, I am treated to their hospitality.
