I check the temperature this morning: minus 35! I guess I won’t be skiing today. Too bad. But then, this means that I can take my time packing up and heading home. I bundle up, just in case something happens along the way to Thunder Bay. Except for a couple of gas stations and a provincial police post along the way, there is really not much between Atikokan and Thunder Bay except lakes and forests. Luckily, with temperatures like these, there won’t be any snowfall. Just hope my car will start. I didn’t bother plugging it in last night.
I drive by the a sign marking the Arctic watershed. I guess that means I have officially crossed back to the south.
I spot two speed traps along the way. Luckily, I am a law abiding citizen today (...sometimes I’m not). I arrive in Thunder Bay, in time for lunch with Louise and Jason. On the menu: tasty quinoa beet hash and mocha cheesecake. I contribute with my chickpea chaat salad, which paled in comparison to the hash. (Louise, please post the recipes!)
My flight is delayed. That doesn’t surprise me--the planes will need de-icing before takeoff.
