The Arctic has moved south. I scurry the 50 metres to the closest entrance to PATH. This subterranean network takes me to almost everything that I would need--banks, fine dining, groceries, libraries, concert halls, even work if I so choose. Only the great outdoors is missing.
For those of you who do not need to burrow underground when the temperatures drop, watch the film, “Waydowntown” to get a taste of winter life in a human warren.
I spend 6 hours with Beatrice & Virgil, Yann Martel’s more recent book. Again he writes with animal themes. He had won the 2002 Man Booker Prize for Life of Pi. I still haven’t figured out how to appreciate his writing. Fancy and fantasy are not my genre of choice.
