February 5: Outing

We have front row centre views of the helipad. Dad is appreciating his view today. I wheel him out for his first outing from his room. Next goal: fresh air.

A bit of realigning today. I buy some dental floss picks. Regular dental flossing is not a one-handed activity. Nor is handwashing, nor is clapping. (My dad has left sided hemiplegia, which means that he has no movement on his left side, most noticeably in his left hand).

I am torn. Should I stay in Vancouver or head back to Toronto? I cannot stay indefinitely. I realize that this event is life-altering, for my parents and me. Dad is stable but his discharge date is yet to be determined. I have a ticket home that cannot be altered. I go.
