Happy New Year! I am in the city with the highest Chinese population outside of Asia. Stores in Richmond are either doing brisk business or closed for the holiday. I discover from Dad’s Korean roommate that they celebrate the same new year’s day.
I head to the hospital bright and early. Dad had a restless night and Mom is worried.
Luckily, Dad seems quite chipper this morning.
Dad’s lunch is a roast beef sandwich au jus like no other (see photo). Pureed bread, pureed beef. The platter smells pretty good though! It’s molecular gastronomy, but not quite like the Claudio Aprile’s Colborne Lane 7-course tasting menu that I missed this week.
